For some years now, I have been photographing generations of women, including my own. My fascination has sprung from the fact that my sister and I are both childless, so our generations stop with us. This saddens me as I feel like we are the end of the line for our family. I know in the grand plan, this fact is inconsequential, and perhaps this project is to partially prove this to myself.

On a positive note, I love watching my friends’ children grow and take on the physical attributes and personalities of their parents, particularly the parent they spend significant amount of time with, which for the most part is still the mother. Therefore I have looked to find 3-5 generations of women, tracing the maternal lineage from the great great grandmothers, down to the youngest generation.
